As any obsessed pet parent will tell you, when it comes to planning your wedding, it isn’t whether to include your pet, it’s how.

Whether you’d like your furry best friend to be your best man or the ring bearer, we’ve put together some different roles that your dog could take in your upcoming summer wedding.

Role# 1: The Ring Bearer:

How it works: Dress your dog in a special outfit or attach a small pillow or pouch with the rings to their collar or harness.

Role# 2: The Flower Dog:

How it works: Train your dog to walk down the aisle with a basket or adorned with flowers, spreading petals as they go.

Tip: Make sure the flowers aren’t toxic for dogs.

Role# 3: The Wedding Party Member:

When it comes to the wedding party, no one is closer to you than your dog. That’s why making them a bridesmaid, groomsman, or honorary member of the wedding party is a no-brainer.

How it works: Dress them in an outfit similar to the rest of the wedding party and have a member of the wedding party escort your dog down the aisle. Just make sure that the outfit won’t cause them to overheat.

Role# 4: The Photo Booth Inspiration:

Create props that look like your dog or replicate clothes that your dog commonly wears (jean jackets, anyone?) and include these items in your photo booth. It’s a great way to include your dog in the wedding without them needing to be physically present.

Role# 5: The Decoration Guru:

If you want to take their role one step further than the photo booth, you can feature their image on your wedding invitations, programs, or even custom wedding decorations. This can include dog-shaped cake toppers, dog-inspired table settings, or even including your dog’s name in the wedding décor.

Role# 6: The Fashion Icon:

Include dog-related elements in your wedding attire—for example, you can wear jewelry with dog motifs, a necklace or bracelet with your pup’s name, or incorporate dog-themed elements into your bridal bouquet or groom's boutonniere.
